Former leading Fox News hosts Bill O’Reilly and Eric Bolling enjoyed a productive working relationship when they were both at Fox, but it looks like that relationship has significantly soured now that they are both gone from their former jobs.
This fresh animosity stems from a recent response Bill gave regarding the tragic accidental death of Eric’s 19 year old son Chase, who was found dead in his apartment near the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he was an undergraduate. Perhaps significantly, Chase’s accidental passing occurred only a day after Eric was dismissed from Fox News because of sexual harassment allegations against him.
Said O’Reilly to the New York Times recently, hitting the newspaper hard for how their smears have had real-life negative consequences, “I urge you to think about what you put in your newspaper. Eric Bolling’s son is dead. He’s dead because of allegations made—in my opinion and I know this to be true—against Mr. Bolling.”
This statement clearly rankled Bolling, who responded by sending Bill a message through Twitter, saying, “I believe it is beyond inappropriate for anyone to bring in the tragic death of my son Eric Chase Bolling. Just as Bill O’Reilly had wanted to shield his children from the allegations against him, I hope he will honor my request and avoid any future mentions of my son.”
He added, “My parting from Fox News was in no way connected to the tragic news of my son’s passing. The coroner has in fact indicated to us that they believe it was an accident.” Was O’Reilly right to make his comments, or do you think Bolling was right in chastising him for them?
